HEROES...

Dancers - The British Museum 2nd century B.C.

poem © Jesús Montero

HEROES

Heroes sail on the crest of Oceans
Until they reach unreachable shores.

Heroes dance in lavish banquets of Babylon
To then fight in the pursuit of love.

Heroes leave their roots and homelands
To then die after they conquer their goals.

CONFUSION...

photo & poem © Jesús Montero

CONFUSION

Deafening bells,
Digging into my heart,
Chatting with my guts,
Punctuating my soul
With palpitations.
Then, a thousand whispers,
Indecipherable and persistent.

Midday sun,
Digging into my skin,
Sailing in my vessels,
Warmly,
Fastly,
Deeply.

Sudden darkness,
Confusing,
Convulsive,
Tiring.

Beer drinking men On the wake of the morrow...

photo & poem © Jesús Montero

Beer drinking men
On the wake of the morrow,
Just to bury the moon
Or perhaps their deep sorrows.

Here comes
Their nervous laughter,
Then the tears,
Shortly after.

A passing bus,
Through the window of the pub,
Muffling the men’s tipsy banter.
